presentiments

i) certainties and doubt

I look outside the window

And wait for dawning light

The river whispers quiet and slow

In the frenzy of the night

The stars of ursa maior

Scattered leaving trails so bright

They were not united like we are

- Stars in the earthly sky

Come on, love, dance with me

Disguise is to banish

Let’s run in ghylls, let’s run in whirls

You’ll fire me and then vanish

So speak to me

Talk to me

I will listen to you

I will listen to you

And you say:

“We are all leaves and we’d better care

For cold breeze has come running in the air

We can believe, or pray, or dare

But cold breeze has come running in the air

Take a look outside our loveland

As far as the eye can see

This frenzy we live in will never end

And that’s the way it will always be

It will always be…”

Don’t you believe when they tell you this is no love

Don’t you give in when they show you the way to go

Can’t you see up there the stars that are shooting down

Smashing on the ground

The night is lit as day

But the moon’s not on the stage

And I saw the sky so grey

And I met the coming rage

Wind blows the dust away

His anger on the window pane

He brings defiantly this way

The sound of a far far train

If I walked on a siding

With a thorn in my side

And hanging trains guiding

They’d call it suicide

The storm is screaming violent

Beyond the falling rain

When the thunder voice is silent

I can hear a far far train

ii) the stranger

Speak to me

Talk to me

Come to me

Stay with me

Hold on to me

Stay with me

Don’t leave me alone

I feel you colder but you say it’s alright with us

I feel like a stranger but you say i’m always the same to you

You keep on telling me you need love but you act like you don’t

I wonder if you are still here tomorrow

Out of distance, flashing far away

Bring it back, ashes on the track

Presentiments recalling something else’s days

Out of distance, flashing far away

iii) vs. all

Down here

Down here…

Take me to where the children smile

Take me to where the sun still shines

Take me to where our love’s not bound

Do it now, I see them coming round

Out of distance, flashing far away

Bring it back, ashes on the track

Presentiments recalling something else’s days

Out of distance, flashing far away

Colours after rain are only memories

Bring it back, ashes on the track

Someone stepping out, someone moving out

Presentiments recalling something else so loud

So speak to me, talk to me

I will listen to you

I will listen to your voice

Your bittersweet words

I look outside the window

Inviting dawning light

The river flows, the corn field glows

Irony of the oncoming night
